There’s beauty here as well

When the clouds grow tall
and the shadows with them,
not everything need be as vivid
and crisp as you remembered
on those gray winter mornings.
Take time to revel in the glow
of spring’s painted fingers,
but respect also the independence
of the often overlooked layers
of skin hardening in the new sun.
