Let’s just press the pause button here
and stop this whole growing up thing
for a moment–just one–while we dance
in the living room like we could care less
how silly we look, or how many left feet
we have, or whether we’re in tune with
the squid dancing on the TV behind us,
for you’re still too young to care
that I can’t dance, and at that moment
nothing could be more important
than those unbridled and wild smiles.
Thank you for the dance, my ladies.
