Muses

If ever I need
an image of beauty
for my stuttering poetry,
or an unflinching audience
for an unpolished story,
or perhaps just two faces
to get lost in thought in,
I’ll only need to see
the tenderness hidden
in unbidded kisses given,
the smiling eyes unblinking
and untroubled by my rambling,
or the innocence of youth
that yet bars all notion
of simple embarrassment.
