I’ve said goodbye to the turtles until spring

IMG_4214.JPG

So it begins,
another
sprinkle of
rebirth,
ring under
the tree’s skin,
layer rebelling
against the cold,
uncertainty
in the axis
and whether
we’ll see
the sun tomorrow.
Another season
to question,
tally mark for
frosty mornings,
roll call for
gray hairs
like hoarfrost
in buffalo fur.
Another
suggestion
considered and
grudgingly
accepted.
