Edge

What did you dream last night that gripped you so fiercely and frightened you so violently?

What thought shook you on the edge of sleep and awake where universes merge like a river’s soot colliding with the ocean’s saltiness?

What spook found home deep inside for that brief moment before giving yourself to the night, in that infinite realm where ideas wander freely over misty moors and mountains wearing hats of snow and winter memories?

Whatever it was that flicked you with hot ashes of fear, that showered you in dazzling sparks of the unknown, that gave you a glimpse of the kingdom beyond here and behind now, remember that it fears you just as much as you fear it, that it is no more than a thought frightened of being extinguished, that it holds no sway unless you say so, and that even in dreams you never have to be alone.
